Belkotgadhi: Preparations have been completed for the prestigious “Mayor Cup & 4th Martyrs Memorial National Hapkido Championship 2026”, which is scheduled to take place on January 30 and 31, 2026. The national-level championship is expected to bring together top Hapkido athletes from across Nepal, showcasing skill, discipline, and the true spirit of martial arts.
The championship is being organized under the approval of the Nepal Hapkido Association, with active participation from district and provincial teams. The event aims to promote martial arts excellence while honoring the contribution and sacrifice of the nation’s martyrs.
According to Championship Coordinator Prabin Gurung, the competition will serve as a platform for emerging and professional athletes to demonstrate their technical precision, mental strength, and discipline. “This championship is not just about winning medals; it is about preserving martial arts values, national unity, and respect for the martyrs who sacrificed for the country,” he stated.
The Mayor Cup has become one of the most anticipated Hapkido events in Nepal, encouraging youth participation and strengthening Nepal’s presence in martial arts at the national and international levels. Various weight and age categories will compete under official rules, ensuring fair and competitive matches.
